An intermediate level of competence on skis and a good level of fitness are all that is required to enjoy our varied terrain. Day tours from the Boulder Hut are diverse and plentiful.
Visit the lovely lakes and larch glades of the upper basin, nestled in glacial cirques under Mt. Higgins and Mt. Levesque. The Lake District provides spectacular cirque runs from Mt. Higgins and Crosscut Mountain. Extensive tree skiing can also be found through the open larch meadows of the City Park area.
Boulder Pass offers views of the Southern Rockies and Central Purcells. Ptarmigan Mountain boasts many continuous downhill runs. The Roll offers open, steep chutes and glades. The endless run down Telemark Hill offers a consistent intermediate pitch. The steeps of Cardiac Arrest and Coronary Bypass are for the not-so-faint-of-hearted, whereas John’s Run is a nice wide, open run down to the lodge.
Guests may also ski to Ptarmigan Hut, located down the valley. With light packs, ski along Boulder Creek and Berglein Lake for 10km to Ptarmigan Hut. Relax there and trade tales in our wood heated log sauna. From the Ptarmigan Hut explore the runs of Powder Bowl or ski the Entwash Circle, a full day circle tour passing under the vertical west face of Mt. Lindsay, before returning to Boulder Hut.
